Not every consumer who enquires about debt review removal should actually pursue removal. In some situations, remaining under debt review is the financially and legally safer choice.
Benefits of staying under debt review:
• Legal protection from creditors: while under debt review and paying as per the restructured plan, creditors cannot take legal action against you, issue summons, repossess your vehicle, or pursue your home. This protection is significant if your debts are large and creditors are aggressive.
• Reduced monthly payments: the restructured plan reduces your monthly obligation to an amount your income can support, allowing you to maintain basic living expenses.
• Interest rate management: debt counsellors negotiate reduced interest rates with credit providers as part of the restructuring process.
• Professional oversight: your debt counsellor manages all creditor communications, disputes, and payment distributions.
• Structured path to debt freedom: completing the debt review process results in all debts settled and a clearance certificate issued.
When removal is the right choice:
• Your income has increased substantially and you can comfortably afford original contractual payments.
• You need to access credit for a legitimate purpose such as a home loan, vehicle, or business.
• All accounts are settled and only administrative steps remain to clear the flag.
NDRC's free assessment includes an honest evaluation of whether removal is in your best interests at this point, or whether completing the debt review process is the wiser path. We do not recommend removal to consumers who are not genuinely in a position to sustain it.
