Confirming removal requires checking both your NCR DHS record and your credit bureau reports. These are two separate systems and both must reflect the removal.
NCR DHS Confirmation:
NDRC provides written confirmation from the NCR once your DHS status has been updated to G or G1. Under NCR Circular 09 of 2025, NDRC as your registered debt counsellor updates DHS directly, which has reduced processing time to same-day in many cases and 7 business days at most.
Credit Bureau Confirmation:
After DHS is updated, all four major credit bureaus must update your credit profile within 21 business days. Bureau updates do not always happen simultaneously. One bureau may still show the flag while another has already removed it.
How to check each bureau:
• TransUnion: mycreditcheck.co.za
• Experian: experian.co.za
• XDS: xds.co.za
• VCCB: viafinance.co.za
Obtain fresh credit reports from all four bureaus approximately 25 business days after receiving your NCR DHS confirmation. If any bureau still reflects the debt review status after 21 business days, NDRC follows up directly with that bureau at no additional charge.
Once all four bureaus show your status as clear, you are legally free to apply for credit.
