    Glossary of Terms — Standard Output Forms

      The Glossary of Terms in Annexure E provides standardised definitions used across the Debt Counselling Standard Output Forms. It binds debt counsellors, credit providers and PDAs to a common vocabulary so that affordability assessments, restructuring proposals and payment plan summaries are interpreted consistently across the industry.

      The glossary is organised into four sections: (1) Glossary — COB; (2) Glossary — Debt Restructuring Proposal; (3) Glossary — PDA Payment Plan Summary; (4) Glossary — Assessment Summary.

      Glossary — Debt Restructuring Proposal

      Reference number, the unique reference number of the debt review case, generated by the rule set. Used for Stage 1 of the DR proposal process.

      Date of acceptance of application, the date when the debt counsellor accepted the debt review application.

      Name, the full name of the debt counsellor.

      NCR Number, the registration number of the debt counsellor at the NCR.

      Postal Address, the full postal address of the debt counsellor (Address Line 1 to 4 plus postal code).

      Telephone number, the telephone number of the DC, preceded by the area code.

      Fax number, the fax number of the DC, preceded by the area code.

      Email Address, the email address of the debt counsellor.

      Consumer Name, the full name of the consumer.

      ID Number, the identity number of the consumer.

      Juristic person registration number, the company, trust or close corporation registration number where applicable.

      PDA Name, the name of the Payment Distribution Agent.

      PDA Number, the registered NCR number of the PDA. If the PDA is not registered, only PDA Name is populated.

      Total Debt, the total debt across all credit agreements for the consumer.

      Total Monthly Commitment, the total monthly instalment across all credit agreements.

      Affordability after DC and PDA fees, the affordability amount used as input into the debt restructuring rule set, after deducting DC and PDA fees.

      Over-indebtedness % — the over-indebtedness percentage calculated during the affordability assessment.

      Rule set used, short description of the rule set used to calculate the debt restructuring proposal.

      Estimated date of distribution to credit provider, the date calculated by the DR rule set on which the first distribution to the credit providers will occur, after all upfront fees have been paid.

      Estimated delay in credit provider distributions, the number of months delay in distribution to the CP after all upfront fees have been recovered.

      Method of Payment, the method used by the consumer to pay the monthly instalment (debit order, EFT, or cash).

      1st Collection Instalment Date, the date when the consumer's first repayment under the DR arrangement is due.

      Short-term insurance confirmation, tick-box confirming that all credit-agreement-linked short-term insurance is in place.

      Credit Provider, the full name of the credit provider for the specific credit agreement.

      Account Number, the credit provider's account number for the agreement. Note: when sending the DR proposal to another CP, an account number must be suppressed (only CP A's account number may appear on a proposal sent to CP A) to mitigate fraud.

      Debt Restructuring Account Type Code, refer to Table 1 below for the full description.

      Balance as at date of COB — the outstanding balance as at the date of the COB, as provided by the credit provider on the COB form.

      Source of balance, either the COB (where supplied within the expected number of days) or the consumer (where the COB was not supplied in time).

      Date of Balance, the date the balance was provided (the date of the COB).

      Contractual Interest Rate (p.a.), the present contractual interest rate per annum for the credit agreement.

      Monthly service fees as per NCA — the monthly service fees allowed under the NCA, excluding transactional or non-NCA fees.

      Annual service fees per NCA — the annual service fees applicable to the credit agreement, excluding transactional or non-NCA fees.

      Due date of Annual service fees, the YYYY/MM/DD due date for payment of the annual fees.

      Repayment amount (original contractual or deemed contractual), the monthly repayment for the credit agreement, either the original contractual amount or the deemed contractual amount.

      Original Contractual or deemed contractual repayment term, the repayment term in months, either originally specified or deemed.

      Remaining repayment term, the number of months still outstanding for repayment.

      Expired Term (in months), the number of months already expired for the agreement.

      Proposed annual fixed interest rate, the new fixed annual rate as calculated by the rules engine.

      Proposed extended term (months from date of restructuring), the number of months from the restructuring date to the end of the restructuring period.

      Proposed opening balance (due to deferred payments for fee recoveries), the agreed opening balance after taking all fee recoveries into account.

      Proposed Monthly Service fees (excl. transactional fees), the new monthly service fees, excluding transactional fees.

      Proposed payment obligation (excl. fees), the new monthly payment obligation under the DR rule set, excluding fees.

      Electronic signature, the digital or hand signature of the debt counsellor on the proposal.

      Glossary — PDA Payment Plan Summary

      Reference number, the unique reference number of the debt review case.

      Date, the date the PDA payment plan summary was printed.

      PDA Name, the name of the PDA.

      PDA NCR Number, the registered NCR number of the PDA.

      Debt Counsellor Name, the full name of the debt counsellor.

      DC NCR Number, the registration number of the DC at the NCR.

      Postal Address (DC), the full postal address of the debt counsellor.

      Telephone number (DC), the DC telephone number, preceded by the area code.

      Fax number (DC), the DC fax number, preceded by the area code.

      Email (DC), the DC email address.

      Consumer Name, the full name of the consumer.

      ID Number, the identity number of the consumer.

      Telephone number (consumer), the consumer telephone number, preceded by the area code.

      Fax number (consumer), the consumer fax number, preceded by the area code.

      Email Address (consumer), the email address of the consumer.

      Residential Address, the full residential address of the consumer (Address Line 1 to 4 plus postal code).

      Postal Address (consumer), the full postal address of the consumer.

      Juristic person registration number, the company, trust or CC registration number where applicable.

      Total Debt, the total debt across all credit agreements for the consumer.

      Total Monthly Commitment, the total monthly instalment across all credit agreements.

      Affordability after DC and PDA fees, the affordability amount used as input into the DR rules set, after DC and PDA fees.

      Over-indebtedness % — the over-indebtedness percentage calculated during the affordability assessment.

      Rule set used, short description of the rule set used to calculate the DR proposal.

      Creditor Name, the full name of the credit provider receiving the payment.

      Creditor Account Type, the Account Type Code as specified by the Debt Restructuring Rules engine (see Table 2).

      Creditor Type (DC Fees, Legal Fees, CP), indicates the type of creditor: DC fees, Legal fees, or Credit provider.

      Creditor Payment Frequency (Upfront / Monthly), indicates whether payment is upfront (initial fees) or monthly (ongoing).

      Creditor Account Number, the account number into which the PDA payment must be made.

      Amount to be distributed to Creditor (R), the amount to be distributed to the creditor.

      Period (number of months), the number of months for which the specific distribution amount applies.

      From Date, the start date of the payment distribution (last day of the relevant month).

      To Date, the end date of the payment distribution (last day of the relevant month). The difference between the From and To dates is the period in months as calculated by the DR rule set.

      Glossary — Assessment Summary

      Customer Name, the first name followed by the surname of the customer.

      ID Number, the identity number of the customer.

      Juristic person registration number, the company, trust or CC registration number where applicable.

      Reference Number, the case reference number.

      Original Income (Applicant), the original monthly gross salary or income amount for the applicant doing the debt review.

      Original Income (Partner), the original monthly gross salary or income amount for the applicant's partner.

      Revised Income, the monthly revised gross salary or income amount, after the assessment summary has been completed.

      Pay-slip Deductions, line items captured in both an original and a revised column. Includes:

      Pension Fund, the monthly amount paid for pension contributions.

      Medical Aid, the monthly amount paid for medical aid contributions.

      Loans, the monthly amount paid for other loans.

      Union subscription, the monthly amount paid for union dues.

      Insurance, the monthly amount paid for insurance.

      UIF — the monthly UIF contribution.

      Group Life, the monthly amount paid for group life cover.

      Retirement Annuity / Endowment, the monthly amount paid for RA or endowment policies.

      Garnishees / Administration Order, the monthly amount paid under garnishees or administration orders.

      Funeral Policy, the monthly amount paid for funeral policies.

      Other deductions, any other monthly pay-slip deduction.

      Tax (SITE and PAYE), the monthly tax deduction.

      Net Income, gross income less statutory deductions and employer deductions.

      Other Income, any additional income outside the pay-slip.

      Total Disposable Income, the sum used as input to the affordability calculation.

      Household Expenditure (Original / Revised), line items captured in both original and revised columns. Includes:

      Domestic, the monthly amount spent on domestic expenses.

      Groceries, the monthly amount spent on groceries.

      Rentals, the monthly amount spent on rentals.

      Petrol / Travel, the monthly amount spent on petrol and travel costs.

      Cell phones, the monthly amount spent on cell phone bills.

      Water and Electricity, the monthly amount spent on water and electricity.

      Financial Services (Original / Revised), line items captured in both original and revised columns. Includes:

      Credit Insurance, the monthly amount paid for credit insurance.

      Credit Linked Insurance, the monthly amount paid for credit-linked insurance.

      Pension and Risk Benefits, the monthly amount paid for pension and risk benefit services.

      Once-off fees, paid and not-yet-paid amounts for once-off fees, including the once-off fee paid to the debt counsellor.

      Payment escalation, the date and percentage that the consumer agrees for escalation of payments.

      Gross Income, the gross monthly income amount.

      Available Amount, gross income less expenditure and financial services.

      Contingency, a monthly contingency amount.

      Gross Collectable amount, the gross collectable, less DC aftercare costs and PDA fees (the consumer is responsible for paying the PDA fees).

      Gross Debt Affordability, the gross debt affordability calculated for distribution.

      Net Debt Affordability, the gross debt affordability less the amount for credit-linked insurance.

      List of Unencumbered Assets, assets the consumer can sell to yield more affordability.

      Asset description / Asset address, for fixed property, the physical address; for movable assets, full goods description with make and model.

      Status, the asset status (e.g. 'Up for sale', 'Sold').

      Nominal Value, a nominal rand value supplied by the consumer.

      Total Value, the total of the nominal values across all listed assets.
