    After Removal

Will there be something showing that I was under debt review after I have successfully exited?

    Have Successfully Exited?

TITLE: Does Debt Review Show on Your Record After Removal? | NDRC | META: After removal, the debt review flag is cleared but some credit history may remain. Learn what stays on your profile and for how long.

Once your debt review flag is removed, the debt review status that prevents credit access is cleared from all credit bureau profiles. You are no longer listed as being under debt review.

However, certain historical information may remain on your credit profile for a period after removal:

    • Payment profile information: the record of how you paid your accounts during the debt review period is part of your payment profile history. This historical information can remain on your credit profile for up to 5 years from the date of each payment event under credit bureau regulations (National Credit Regulations, Regulation 17).

    • Default listings: if accounts were in default before or during debt review and listed at credit bureaus, they may remain for up to 5 years unless updated as settled or the relevant period expires.

    • Judgments: any court judgments against you remain on your profile until settled and rescinded, or until the 5-year period expires.

    What does not remain:

    • The debt review flag itself. Removed completely.

    • The NCR DHS listing showing you as under debt review. Updated to G or G1 and no longer restricts credit access.

Most credit providers look at the pattern of recent payment behaviour rather than the historical record from years ago. Six to twelve months of consistent positive payment behaviour after removal significantly reduces the impact of historical debt review information on credit assessments.

NDRC recommends pulling credit reports from all four bureaus after removal to understand exactly what remains and to address any incorrectly listed information.
